Maya Smith

Maya SmithMaya is a native of Conyers, GA and studied dance at the Conyers School of Ballet and the Mimi Hudson Dance Studio before being accepted into Avondale High School of the Performing Arts. Maya’s training includes ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop and liturgical dance as well as the Horton based Modern Technique. She has also studied at Ballethnic Academy in College Park, GA and Georgia Southwestern State University where she was a member of the GSW cheerleading squad.

Miss Smith has won numerous awards for her dancing the first being at the age of nine when she placed First in the Monroe County 8th Annual “Say No To Drugs” Talent show sponsored by WRCJ Productions. She also won first place in the 1988 and 1999 Student African-American Brotherhood (SAAB) Talent Show. She also danced in the 2000 Super Bowl pre-game show.

Maya taught for four years for Crawford Baptist Church’s Anointed Dance Company and the church’s junior company. She also taught at Sim’s Chapel and still teaches at Anointed Dance Steps Academy.


Miss Smith began teaching at Dominy School of the Performing Arts in 2000 and her gift for choreography became immediately evident. We are thrilled to have her teaching her unique style of jazz!
