JENNIFER HURLEY

Miss Jennifer comes to us from Warwick, New York where she taught ballet and jazz at Dancer's studio during the 2002-2003 school term. Since then she has earned her B.F.A. in Dancer Education graduating summa cum laude from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. There she studied Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Dance Education, Dance History, Business of Dance, Yoga, Pilates, Pedagogy, Child & Educational Psychology, Dynamic Anatomy, Voice, Language and Survey of Music, and Theater Functions/Dance Production. Since teaching at Dancer's studios she has also taught at Jim Bunting's Dance Studio in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Studio Ballet in Bryn Mawr, NJ, and the Performing Arts High School Ballet in Philadelphia, PA. At these schools she taught Beginner through Advanced Ballet, Pointe and Men's Class. She has also been a Peer Tutor for the Academic Services Office at University of the Arts where she earned her degree.

Jennifer brings a wide range of techniques from her extensive dance training which include Vaganova Ballet Technique from Bandwagon Ballet in Warwick, NY, The Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C. and The American Academy of Ballet in Poughkeepsie , NY. While at the American Academy Intensive she also studied Graham and Alvin Ailey Modern, Russian Folk Dance and Spanish Dance. The Kirov Intensive also trained her in Cunningham Modern, Hip Hop Styles and Stress Release Techniques. While at the Briansky Saratoga Summer Program in Saratoga, NY she added Musical Theater and Jazz Styles. Her Ballet Techniques also include Balanchine and Cecchetti methods from Dancer's Studio and Warwick Ballet Theater Company and other training from Ballet Academy East, Steps on Broadway, Studio Maestro, and The Joffrey Ballet in NY, NY as well as the Eglevsky Ballet in Long Island, NY. Miss Jennifer has also studied Creative Movement, Cheerleading, Irish Step Dance, Swing, traditional Classical Ballet Variations, Partnering, Flamenco, Ballroom Dance, Character Dance and Costume Design and has been a Stage Manager, Lighting Tech Assistant, Audio Technician and a Hearing Impaired Note-Taker!

The awards and scholarships Jennifer has won are too numerous to mention here as are her teaching competencies. We met her this summer through the Atlanta Festival Ballet company in Stockbridge, GA with whom she currently dances. Join me in welcoming her to the Atlanta area and our staff at DSPA!
