CORNELIA VIRELLA

Ms. Cornelia Virella is an accomplished artist with a performing arts education in both dance and theatre. She has trained under many gifted teachers and visionaries including Alvin Ailey, Frank Hatchett and David Howard.

She is the Artistic Executive Director of ACT Conservatory of Drama and Theatre, an "award-winning" drama program that has produced rising new talent in Georgia. She enjoys performing various roles in stage plays and musical theatre productions. A creative, prolific playwrite, she continues to produce and direct numerous plays that have garnered rave reviews from critics and theatergoers alike.

Recognizing the importance of being a versatile, progressive teacher and artist, she continues her training by attending master classes and workshops. She teaches students age 3 through adult, beginners to professional. An experienced dance and theatre professional, she has taught at the renowned Brooklyn Heights Studios, Fame Academy and Soapstone Center for the Arts. A multitalented artist, she performs professionally with her dance companies Bakongo Mahi (African) and Modernicity Dance Company. Her dance background includes Ballet (French method), Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop, African, Latin and Ballroom.

Ms. Virella is the President of the Playwrights Drama Alliance whose mission is to promote dramatic arts in Georgia and internationally. She labors tirelessly to bring topnotch programs to children through adults in the Atlanta area, and to provide quality family entertainment for patrons of the arts. Through her theatre company, talented, gifted students are given opportunities to hone their craft and perform on local and national stages aas well as appear in film and television.

Ms. Virella credits her theatre arts background, love for people and love for performing as the sustaining power in her exciting and versatile career. By her own example, she continues to challenge and inspire her students to always "Dream, Aspire, Achieve!"
