| Creative Movement
is especially designed for 3 and young 4 year olds. This class
takes place in a 1/2 hour format. The children will explore the basics
of motion using games and props which make the discipline of dancing
fun while preparing them for Tap/Ballet class later. |
|
| Ballet/Tap
Combination is a one hour class during which children ages four
to eight can experience two completely different forms of dancing
expression. We begin to immediately introduce the proper French
terminology universal to dance, along with the basic fundamental elements
of ballet, then change to our tap shoes to explore the strength and
variety of tap steps and musical rhythm. There are four levels of
classes to maximize your child's potential based on age, emotional and
physical maturity and level of ability. |
|
| Classical
Ballet is perhaps the highest art form the world offers
today. It is exacting, technically demanding of body and mind, and
much more difficult than it looks. But as with most things in life
the greater the challenge the greater the reward and the benefits of
taking ballet are well documented: better physical and mental
coordination, strength, stamina, flexibility, self-discipline,
self-motivation, and self-assurance. Ballet dancers are typically
the best students, musicians, ice skaters, cheerleaders, gymnasts, actors,
and athletes and they enjoy greater success in whatever career they choose
because of it. We offer several levels from Beginning through
Advanced, age 8 and up, and students are placed primarily according to
ability, although we take age into consideration and encourage students in
other dance classes to take ballet as well. |
|
| Pointe Class
is by invitation or audition only and requires certain physical and
technical prerequisites. Please notify the Director if you are a
ballet student interested in qualifying. All ballet students are
encouraged to audition for the Festival Ballet Company's winter and spring
productions. |
|
| Jazz/Modernclasses
are offered for ages nine and up, and are popular for their contemporary
music and looser technical requirements. Several styles are taught
including classical, competitive dance team, contemporary, liturgical,
and hip-hop. There are various levels of one-hour classes according
to age and dance experience. |
|
| Tap is a
fast-paced, upbeat form of dance, great for those who like noise, rhythm,
speed, challenge, and strong legs and feet! All levels, ages eight
and up. |
|
